E2Tech has announced that the 2020 edition of Moche XL Esports has been cancelled due to the global health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Portuguese event was due to be held on June 27-28 at Altice Arena, in Lisbon, with six teams in attendance, including MIBR, who won the first edition of the tournament in 2018 while playing under the SK banner.
E2Tech explains that the decision to cancel the $100,000 tournament is in line with the guidelines from the Portuguese health authorities "in the current global situation because of the COVID-19 outbreak, which requires restrictions on large events and the free circulation of people."
All ticket holders will be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the event's dates. E2Tech has not yet announced any details about the future of the competition, whose prize money had doubled since the first edition. Last year, Windigo claimed the lion's share of the $75,000 prize pool after beating GamerLegion in the final.
